A yoga therapy session is a profoundly healing experience – our time together is completely tailored to your particular physical, emotional, energetic and spiritual needs. I really love working with students individually in this way, helping to guide them back towards a place of peace and wholeness. Yoga therapy is useful when your need for practice comes from a distinct emotional or physical place, for example when recovering from an illness, having trouble with sleep, following divorce or bereavement, during exam or workplace stress, in pregnancy or post-natally. Yoga therapy can be a powerful catalyst for transformation – many of those I work with are exploring career change or marking an important milestone in their lives.
Unlike other forms of yoga, where the system – for example Ashtanga – guides our practice and the student bends to fit, yoga therapy is an integrative way of working that is both healing and student centred. We can choose the asana (poses), pranayama (breathing exercises), mantras, mudras, philosophy and meditations that will work most powerfully and safely for you, helping you to release resistance to those things in life that are causing pain and suffering.
‘Homework’ between sessions might include a yoga practice, meditation or guided exercises like journalling or energy work. Sessions can be one-off, a set course or as an ongoing class held in the comfort of your own home, or in my yoga space in Winskill, Penrith.
